In addition to Greece, several European Union member countries now face overwhelming government debt. Many of the countries with the highest debt levels relative to their gross domestic products have been hit hardest by the global recession. Greece, Ireland and Portugal all have unemployment rates above 14%.
Most people don’t understand how someone could fail to find a job for over a year unless he was lazy or somehow defective.
Greece’s unemployment has surged to 20.9 percent. However, the youth unemployment rate spiked to 48 percent. The European crisis has obviously hit the under-25 age group hard.
It’s hard to be a young adult these days, according to a report released this morning by the Pew Research Center. Suffering from shockingly high rates of unemployment, millennials have harder lives than their parents by most accounts.
